Impressionable Years

"Release yourself from old negative beliefs.  Have no boundaries and brake the mold."  cyb

I became interested in acting because of my uncle, but I guess my obsession with trying to understand people and why they act the way they do, and the reason behind their actions was a gift that was born out of pure survival instincts.   So at a very young age, I started observing people at random, all the time, it was my hobby!
So today when it comes to acting I can develop a character very quickly.  No matter how difficult or complex a character is, I can always brake it down to couple of key emotions that ultimately are what drives the character to behave in the way he does.

Now my grandfather was and is my biggest inspiration in life and when it comes to my acting skills.  He taught me everything I know.  He was a true artist.  He was a painter, cartoonist, journalist and definitely an eccentric person, somehow in his brilliant mind he ended up teaching all the skills I needed to become an actress without even knowing that one day I would become one.  He worked for  Globo TV, the biggest network television in Brazil for 46 years, but he didn't think acting was a stable or worthy profession.  Grandpa had a magical way of explaining things to me.  He used to say that it was very important to learn how to communicate with people, to anyone actually, and to respect them all.  He also taught me to take pride in everything I did, no matter how small or how big the task was, and that these lessons would come in handy one day; and he was right!

The very first acting I did was when I was very young, I entered a school monologue contest.  Grandpa was my acting coach, he taught me acting techniques that I use to this day.  I couldn't of done it without him, thanks grandpa!  Looking back now, I laugh with joy, because I remember me as a child reciting the poem exactly like my grandfather did!   I recited a poem by the brilliant Brazilian poet Carlos Drummont de Andrade called "José".  I didn't win the contest, because the nuns thought it was pretty dark.  Whatever!
